Young People’s Chair Report

Accomplishments from the past quarter.

In October, our committee’s previous panel held their final hybrid quarterly meeting in Lynnwood hosted by District 24.  They concluded their efforts to support GSO’s Young People’s Video Project after collection and submission of 33 anonymous videos from Area 72.  These videos are also saved in the Area Archives and will be available on Area 72’s YouTube channel for future general service purposes.  They also reviewed updates to the Area 72 Young People’s Committee Handbook in preparation for the handoff to Panel 75.

Problems or issues you are facing or have already dealt with.

To prepare for assuming the role of Area 72 Young People’s Chair, I met with the previous YP Chair in December to review handoff materials and become familiar with the duties of this service position.  I am also coordinating with the previous Area YP Chair to support new District YP Chairs that were elected last month become familiar with their role on the Area YP Committee.

Please share some goals you hope to achieve or begin work on in the next quarter.

I will review the YP handbook, as well as all the materials provided by the outgoing YP chair to better learn the role of YP chair and the scope of the Young People’s committee. I’m excited to get to know the new District YP Chairs and talk about goals for this rotation. I will make myself available to visit Area 72 districts that do not have YP Chairs in order to spread awareness of how our committee can support their local YPs.             Our first quarterly of Panel 75 will be held on Saturday, January 25th at Greater Seattle Intergroup and on Zoom.  I will send out further details to the Area Committee once I have access to the Area 72 YP Chair email.
