Corrections – February 2025

Hello Everyone!!!  I am so excited and humbled to serve as your panel 75 corrections chair. My passion for corrections was awakened when I visited Olympic Corrections Complex in summer, 2024.  I was blown away at the amount of work it takes AAs to take a meeting into corrections facilities.  I got to witness what it means for AA to really show up with literature and participate in meetings.  It was amazing and I will always remember those sacred AA goosebumps that I got.  My home district hosted two of the last four quarterlies and I’ve really enjoyed getting to meet some of the corrections servants.  I live in Monroe, WA and this last rotation district 3 had a fabulous corrections chair who was instrumental in getting local AAs into the Monroe Correctional Complex and I look very much forward to keeping that momentum going.  All of this being said, I have A LOT to learn and one of my favorite things about general service is that I don’t have to learn alone!  We will be having our first quarterly on March 15, 2025.  Location to be determined.  A volunteer has come forward to be the corrections committee secretary and I will be looking for volunteers to fill the literature coordinator and the pre-release coordinator for the area corrections committee.  The literature coordinator is responsible for receiving literature requests by intergroups, districts, and groups throughout Area 72 including the Grapevine. The pre-release coordinator is responsible for receiving pre-release requests mailed by persons in custody from AA members in custody from facilities within Area 72. In other words, set a person in custody up for success by getting them in touch with an AA member who will get them immediately to an AA meeting.  So, if anyone is interested or curious don’t hesitate to reach out to me. My phone number will be below.  My wish for this rotation is to fully embrace this general service experience with a passion that is contagious!  Area 72 corrections already does amazing things and I’m excited to be a part of that.
