Wow! I finally finished the first printed edition of the Area 72 Newsletter. It feels like a real accomplishment, and I have made many mistakes, but learned so much. Thank you to all the Area 72 Fellows for your grace and understanding as I learn the ropes.
I was attracted to service early on since my sponsor was serving as an Alt DCM. I delved in right away as an Alt GSR for my homegroup as soon as I had the minimum Sobriety requirement necessary. I saw so many fellow alcoholics that had what I wanted serving their area, district, and intergroups. These were the members who seemed to really take the 12th step to the next level. As a DCM I attended the unrepresented meetings and spread the word that we needed their participation more than we needed their money. I connected to the members in my district by being available and present.
These are the very skills I hope to carry with me as your newsletter editor. It is my hope that we can increase the participation in the newsletter through article submissions and Calendar updates. This could be such a great avenue for communication in our area.
Please reach out with your articles, ideas, and other submissions. I want this publication to be a reflection of your Area 72 Spirit and Unity.
