Hello to all AA members in Area 72! I am Houston L. and I am an Alcoholic and honored to serve as the Panel 75 Registrar of Area 72 AA. I hope to serve each of you, your home groups, your districts and the Area in the registration of Area72 ‘s Trusted Servants with GSO and access to Area 72’s Newsletter. Having Area, District and Group Trusted Servants accurate and up to date contact information for the AA General Service Office as well as for each member in Area 72 allows support to flow in both directions from members, to group, to districts, to Area, to GSO and back again. This keeps the upside down triangle of AA, that makes the members the heart of Alcoholics Anonymous.
January has been full of learning, forgetting, learning again, training and large amounts of emails from groups and districts updating their leadership information that is passed to me from our web servant as well as direct emails to registrar@area72aa.org! In all honesty since the 14th of January, I have worked for many hours each day sorting and updating and entering this information and still have at least 100 emails to go to get up to date.
This is a bit daunting, but I have had great information, training and ongoing access to the past registrar Don N. I am so grateful for not only his help and support but also for a budding friendship with Don, our new Area Secretary and Mary, his partner and our amazing Area Archivist.
So, I want to thank you all for this opportunity to be of service. I will continue to work hard and hopefully be up to date by February 1, 2025. I can see that keeping information up to date will be a daily practice just as my recovery and so it will be with the members and my HP’s support that I will be the most successful as well as keeping me humble and of service.
