Sound and Zoom Coordination – February 2025

I suppose in my experience of service work attracting other members to service is all about being honest.  If there are certain things that are challenging, then say that.  Don’t try and spruce it up so that when the person gets into a position they are like “Anthony lied to me and this isn’t any fun at all!!”  Throughout my journey and even today I have encountered tough things, but such is life.  One of the major takeaways from the steps for me was the realization that what AA was really trying to do for me was teach me how to live a happy life.  A happy life has its ups and downs.  Just like my sobriety.  But in the end the steps give me the tools to ride those waves and not drink one day at a time.

I think that is what our service sponsors are for, to help us navigate those times when you are bored, upset at that person going up to the mike … AGAIN!, or just realizing the size of commitment you signed up for after that first month of being appointed.  It is good stuff all around.  And that is how you attract new people to service, exactly the same way you attract people to check out AA, by being that positive light in their lives 🙂
