The AA Three Legacies
The AA triangle means more to me every year I am sober. I am seeing and feeling more meaning in our AA symbols. Recovery, Service and Unity are so deeply meaningful to me. The appointed position of Area Treatment Chair displays those legacies so clearly. All of the Group and District Treatment and Bridging the Gap Chairs are helping the still suffering alcoholics find their way to recovery. I am just amazed at the love and dedication they all display in reaching out through treatment centers, detox centers and rehabilitation centers. The energy I feel in those rooms when AA members bring in meetings and panels. Their love and dedication are contagious. They discuss their own struggles and treatment to find the joy and peace they found in RECOVERY.
It is so clear that SERVICE is what takes our RECOVERY to the next level. It is like taking an elevator up to a higher level where you have a more clear view of you purpose – to give back and share what we were all so freely given.
When you are in service you start getting close to a whole new group of trusted servants who are filling their souls with the joy of serving others. They are totally resigned to reaching out and giving salvation to lost and sick brothers and sisters.
I challenge you all to attend one meeting of the Greater Seattle Intergroup H&T meeting on the first Saturday of each month, you will see RECOVERY, SERVICE & UNITY in person.
Getting out of yourself and working together purely for the benefit of others creates the most beautiful and fulfilling UNITY. These legacies don’t just happen to all people. You must first walk through each door of RECOVERY and SERVICE. The next door you open is UNITY. There you will find peace, joy and unity.
